Internship Scheme for 2013-14 in Town Planning, Architecture, Social Development, Finance, Information Technology, Geographical Information System.

  1. Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), an autonomous organisation under Government of NCT of Delhi, is nodal agency for preparing ‘Slum Free City Plan of Action’ for Delhi under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) of Govt of India. RAY envisages rehabilitation of all the slum dwellers and preventing formation of slums in future. The Board has rehabilitated about 400,000 slum households. It also operates 225 night shelters for homeless people.
  2. The Board has short term and long term internship opportunities for young men and women, who are inclined to work for the people at the bottom of the pyramid.
  3. Interested students / persons undergoing graduate / post-graduate / doctoral courses in various disciplines associated with town planning, social development, GIS, finance and management are required to fill up application on our web site www.delhishelter.nic.in between 27 Jan 2014 to 10 Feb 2014.
  4. The internship is for a period of six months to 1 year, with initial period of 3 months extendable by 3 months on satisfactory performance. The internship is neither a job nor any assurance thereof.

    a. Town Planning/ Architecture B. Arch. with at least 60% marks from a recognised university or final year students can also apply. Familiarity with use of GIS for planning. Experience of using 2D and 3D CAD applications.
    b. Social Development BSW/MSW or bachelor’s degree in sociology, or similar fields with at least 60% marks from a recognised university. Projects in slums.
    c. Information Technology BE/B. Tech/MCA/MSc in Computer Science/ Information Technology or MBA (IT) with at least 60% marks from a recognised university or final year students can also apply Software projects using PHP/MySQL, Open Source platforms like Linux / LAMP / Android, System Administration.
    d. GIS BE/B. Tech in IT/Computer Science/ Archietecture/Civil Engineering/Geography (B. Sc.) with at least 60% marks from a recognised university or final year students can also apply Exposure to use of GIS like Quantum GIS/ArcGIS/GRASS/MAPInfo/OpenGeo, GPS.
    e. Finance B. Com. / MBA (Finance) with at least 60% marks from a recognised university. Exposure to project financing, banking, mortgages, property valuation, PPP.
  5. The guidelines/ salient features of the Internship Scheme are :
    1. Eligibility: As above.
    2. Proficiency in use of computers: All interns must be able to use computers for writing documents, calculations and making presentations apart from experience of using software packages as mentioned above/related to their profession.
    3. Work: The interns will be required to satisfactorily complete all tasks assigned to them. The internship involves field work with in Delhi.
    4. Duration: Internship will be offered initially for 3 months and on satisfactory progress, will be extended for next 3 months for a total maximum duration of one year.
    5. Remuneration: Remuneration of Rs. 7000/- per month per intern, payable on satisfactory performance every quarter, which will be increased to Rs. 10,000/ per month after completion of six months of internship.
    6. Declaration of Secrecy and Intellectual Property: Selected interns are required to furnish to the Department a declaration of secrecy and Intellectual Property before reporting for the internship stating that no data or information will be transmitted outside department and that rights of all Intellectual Property generated by them during internship shall wrest with the department.
    7. Logistics Support: Interns will be provided with the necessary logistics support i.e. office space and computer with internet facility.
    8. Placement: The interns would be attached with the Project Director (Rajiv Awas Yojana).
    9. Submission: The interns will be required to present a Report on work done by them at the end of the internship.
    10. Certificate of Internship: Certificates will be issued to the interns on satisfactory completion of their internships and on submission of their Report and its evaluation by the Project Director (RAY).
    11. How to apply: Interested candidates are required to enter their details at our website: www.delhishelter.nic.in between 27th January 2014 to 21st February 2014.
    12. Selection: The applications will be scrutinized by a Selection Committee and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. For each discipline, 1 or more candidates may be offered internship.
    13. Candidates applying for the internship are advised to visit websites of DUSIB and Ministry of HUPA to familiarise themselves with Rajiv Awas Yojana and services provided by the DUSIB.
